About the course

This occupation is found in and throughout the construction and built environment sector, including construction contracting and associated supply chain subcontractors. Construction Contracting Operations Technicians operate in a range of settings including estimating, planning, buying, site, quantity surveying and design and build roles. Site and office environments include industrial, commercial, residential, refurbishment, heritage, retail and public sector projects. 

Typical job titles include:

  • Buying and procurement technician 
  • Contracting quantity surveying technician 
  • Contracting site technician 
  • Estimating technician 
  • General construction contracting operations technician 
  • Planning technician

Entry requirements

Applicants must have 5 GCSE's (Grade 4-9) in a range of subjects including math's and English.

Assessment

Candidates will be assessed regularly during the BTEC modules via two exams and optional unit based assignments. The apprentice will sit an End Point Assessment (EPA) which will consist of the following; Written report, Project, Interview/Verbal Discussion.

Careers & Progression

Apprentices could progress on to the Level 4 Design and Build Technician or the Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor apprenticeship.
