About the course
The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy is the first step of your training for a career as a Sport Massage Therapist, either employed or self-employed.
This qualification has been specifically designed for the 19 plus age group and is based on the national occupational standards for massage.
The course is part time, and allows candidates to change or enhance their career without the need to end full time employment. Training will be one day a week in college and there will be an element of home study, including research assignments and practicing practical skills.
Training will be delivered in the new £6.3 million Spa facilities, which includes sauna, steam, hydrotherapy pool and cryotherapy chamber.

Entry requirements
There are no official entry qualifications for this course although learners are required to have an appropriate level of fitness to carry out a sports massage and an interest in fitness and/or sport.
Modules
The structure of this VTCT Level 3 qualification consists of five mandatory units: - Anatomy and physiology for sports massage - Principles of health and fitness - Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction - Professional practice in sports massage - Sports massage treatments
Assessment
On this course you will be assessed practically and by producing a portfolio of evidence
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to a Level 4 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy qualification or alternative sport, fitness and wellbeing qualifications like Level 2 Gym Instruction, Level 3 Personal Training or Level 3 Wellbeing and Holistic Therapy
