About the course
The Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation is a practical, industry focused course that builds the skills and knowledge needed for entry level roles and progression to an apprenticeship. You will learn electrical science and principles, health and safety, installation methods, and regulations awareness, then apply them to real tasks such as selecting cables and protective devices, preparing and routing containment (conduit, trunking, tray), wiring circuits for lighting and power, terminating and connecting accessories, and testing and fault finding to safe working practices.
Training takes place in well-equipped workshops with industry experienced tutors, using tools, test instruments, and drawings that reflect current site standards.
Assessment typically combines online or written knowledge tests with observed practical assignments that require you to plan, install, and verify circuits to specification, supported by a portfolio of evidence.
On completion, you will be ready to move into an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship, with clear pathways toward site-based improver roles and, with further study and experience, full occupational competence.
